Each year Lancaster Newspapers publishes a special section called Newspapers in Education, which showcases the artwork and editorials of students throughout the county. The program gives students an inside look at how newspapers operate, and how businesses use advertising to build their image in the community. Students submit their art and copy for judging by the participating business and organizations.

The physicians of Lancaster NeuroScience & Spine Associates chose the entry of Doug Dows, a senior at Elizabethtown High School, as their winner in the 2008 competition, for his image of the brain and spine practice. Doug is the son of Dan and Jane Dows of Elizabethtown. His artwork was part of the category that allowed students to use computer-generated graphics to convey their message.

Winning entries were published March 4, 2008. The medical staff of Lancaster NeuroScience & Spine Associates congratulates Doug Dows and wishes him success as he pursues his goals in education.
