Traditional Physiatry
Previously referred to as physical medicine and rehabilitation, this specialty focuses on restoring function for patients with acute and chronic pain—back and neck pain, fibromyalgia, tendonitis and pinched nerves. Physiatric care also benefits patients who have had stroke, arthritis, tendonitis, work or sports-related injuries, or neurological disorders such as multiple schlerosis.

Interventional Physiatry
Lancaster NeuroScience & Spine Associates has also pioneered interventional physiatry, which is the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of back and neck pain through new protocols including discograms and injections. The interventional physiatrist is able to use state-of-the-art technology to precisely determine the source of pain, and then develop the most appropriate and effective treatment plan.
